Song of Dragons (2015)

Program Note

Song of Dragons was originally a commissioned piece, but became something different as the notes found their way to the page. I was asked to write “in the style of The Game of Thrones,” and fantastic dragon imagery came to mind. The theme appearing at the beginning and the end of the piece paint a picture of gigantic and heroic beasts dominating the sky on a dreary day, perhaps a day of battle. The middle theme brings the listener close to a large dragon’s face, where they are scrutinized and judged by the gigantic beast before he flies of to continue battle.
